James Oldfield is driven by the need to innovate and improve outcomes for learners in his role as the Manager of Digital Learning at Unitec, business division of Te Pūkenga. James provides leadership and strategic direction to Unitec in matters relating to digital learning and teaching. He is the Co-Chair of the ITP Learning and Teaching Advisory Group, a member of the Ako Academy of Excellence Executive, an Apple Distinguished Educator and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr Shahper Richter
Senior Lecturer | University of Auckland Business School
Dr Shahper Richter is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland Business School, where her research
intersects technology, information systems, and marketing. She examines the socio-technical dynamics of
emerging technologies, including the Metaverse and AI tools like ChatGPT, focusing on their implications for work
practices and organizational strategy development.
Cordelia Stewart
Lecturer | AUT Business School
Cordelia Stewart is a Lecturer in Marketing at AUT University. Cordelia specialises in consumer behaviour and digital marketing and has a keen interest in embedding AI literacy in her third-year marketing papers, so students have competitive advantage and are workplace ready. Cordelia’s philosophy toward generative AI is ensure that students have a deep understanding of how to strategically apply generative AI tools whilst understanding the ethical and moral implications attached. Cordelia is a firm believer that AI serves as a tool and that it’s true potential can only be realised through the skills and knowledge applied when interacting with them.
Chao Jiang
Postgraduate student | AUT
Chao is in the first trimester of her Master's degree in supply chain management. Before coming to AUT, Chao worked in the International transportation and freight forwarding industry for more than 10 years.
During her studies, she feels she has significantly enhanced her research skills and academic learning abilities. Chao has made considerable advances in critical thinking and independent reasoning, which have furthered her professional development.
AI has significantly boosted Chao's efficiency by automating many repetitive manual tasks, allowing her to focus her limited energy on academic research and the exploration of innovative ideas. This has greatly enhanced Chao's learning efficiency, making her feel "like a fish in water".
